There is a brief accommodation review at the end of my WHW journal - some good, some not so good!

West Highland Way Accommodation May 2009. Just completed the WHW and we stayed at the places listed below. I would stay at all of them again.

Drymen - Lander B & B. Shared facilities with one other room but no problems at all with this. Rooms very comfortable, great welcome and food excellent.

Rowardennan - Coile Mhor Cottage. This is a first class B & B with excellent food, service and bedrooms. The down side is that it is 1 mile from the nearest place to get an evening meal i.e. Clansman bar at the Rowardennan Hotel BUT the owner is quite happy to drop off and pick up those with weary legs (not us by the way!).

Tyndrum - Glengarry House. The best on the route and they provide evening meals as well. The owners are Andy and Ellen and they offer a service to pick and up and drop off walkers who stay with them more than one night. We were picked up from outside the Drovers and driven up to Tyndrum for the night then dropped off the next morning at Bein Glass from where we walked to Glengarry House. Great bedroom, fabulous food and hospitality - packed lunches great. See their own website for more info.

Kingshouse Hotel. Well what can I say other than a walk along the WHW wouldn't be the same without a stay here. The hotel is very busy with all rooms (35) booked up but the meals and service were excellent. The rooms are looking a bit tired but are clean and comfortable.

Kinlochleven - Tailrace Inn. What a cracking pub with comfortable rooms and first class food and service. We had lunch, evening meal, packed lunches and breakfast here and all were excellent with speedy service.

Fort William - Glenlochy Guest House. Just opposite the end of the WHW. Very comfortable and excellent service. Most of the residents were non WHW walkers which seems to be what the Guest House caters for BUT I can't fault the food, service and cleanliness.
